The park offers visitors several rental cabins in a variety of price ranges - all of them reasonable and much less costly than a good motel. But during the summer months, the water temperature is perfect, and skinny-dipping is heavenly. Be warned if visiting in the spring or fall: The pool can be quite cool, sometimes uncomfortably so. Prairie Haven’s season runs from mid-April through mid-October. Nearby is a community clubhouse with a fully-equipped kitchen, which is good, because Prairie Haven has no food service - visitors must bring their own snacks. The pool and spa adjoin a large deck lined with lounge chairs for sunning. We enjoy hanging out at the park’s sparkling in-ground pool and covered hot tub. The park’s tree-covered grounds are beautiful, with plenty of shade but also lots of sunshiny areas for those seeking the nudist’s treasured no-lines tan. My wife and I have been to Prairie Haven many times over the last several years and have always found it to be clean, comfortable and fun. Prairie Haven draws most of its clientele from northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri, including the Kansas City area, although some members and visitors come from much farther away. Prairie Haven nudist park, 23 miles south of Topeka, near the town of Scranton, is much larger and more developed.

If they had chose to amend the rules next year and given forewarning it would have seemed more appropriate. I had planned 2 or 3 more weekend getaways that have now disappeared. I would think the added revenue would be appealing. Kind of bummed me out how this was handled. Never rude, never a gawker, just a really good place to get away from it all with the convenience of a decent cabin to rent. Usually keep to myself unless invited to participate in some activity. I could come along with someone who had not visited as their partner, but they would only be able to visit 3 times. They told me the board had changed the rules.
